James A. Moore, Founder & Managing Partner
Jim Moore took ten years of experience in technical and operational positions with various software companies to Wall Street in the early 1990s, giving him a unique perspective in analyzing and advising companies who are growing and considering strategic options.
Prior to establishing J. Moore Partners in San Francisco in 2008, Jim was managing director of North Point Advisors, an M&A advisory firm, where he helped grow the firm to the $9 billion transaction level. Previously, he was a partner at Alex. Brown, and post-acquisition, served as a managing director at Deutsche Bank in technology research. He has worked with investment banking clients on merger advisory, special committee, initial public offerings, follow-on offerings, convertibles, PIPEs, and private placements. His clients and relationships span North America, Europe, Israel, and Asia.
An industry insider with more than 20 years of experience, Jim is a recognized expert on analyzing global financial deals and has been quoted in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Financial Times, The Economist, Forbes, and has appeared on CNBC, CNN and Bloomberg News. Over his career, he has raised in excess of $4 billion in capital for technology clients around the world.
Jim holds an MBA from Columbia Business School. He and his family live in San Francisco.

Paul Sutton, Director
Paul Sutton is a seasoned technology executive and proven entrepreneur with strong global experience and contacts. At home dealing with all aspects of a technology organization, Sutton has crafted a reputation as a respected leader, manager and industry voice. With executive experience in both public and private companies, a member of founding teams, a proven CEO and multiple board member, Sutton has a track record of building and exiting successful businesses. As an executive and advisor, he has proven his ability to attract both institutional and private investors to support various ventures. Through his leadership and results, he has further proven his ability to build and manage those ventures through the entire growth and M&A lifecycle.
Paul began his career in Systems Programming and Communications software architecture at a major computer manufacturer. Using that deep technical training as a foundation, he progressed through all aspects of technical and field management into top executive roles. He has consistently shown his ability to understand key value propositions, craft successful business models and grow companies. He has repeatedly demonstrated his ability to create value for organizations at any stage and advise management teams on how to get to the optimum outcome.
Rob Henley, Analyst
Prior to joining the team at J Moore Partners, Rob worked as a Financial Analyst at M2S, Inc., a New Hampshire based Healthcare IT firm. At M2S, he developed a working knowledge of the Healthcare IT and technology space and was responsible for evaluating the company's strategic initiatives. Rob earned his BA in Economics from Dartmouth College, where he was also the captain of the varsity men's golf team.
Matt Droessler, Associate
Prior to earning his MBA at Stanford University, Matt Droessler worked for Alliance Bernstein LP in New York as a Quantitative Analyst in global analytics, specializing in high yield, emerging markets and corporate bonds. He received his CFA charter in June 2006 and previously completed a number of international assignments, including a microfinance project in Vietnam and the creation of a customer-ranking model for Royal Dutch Shell in Calgary, Canada. Matthew also holds a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Joel Grant, Associate
Joel focuses on internet and software company transactions for J. Moore Partners. Previously, he worked at Fidelity International in London as a research associate, where he specialized in equity research for the firm's global investment portfolios. Prior to earning his MBA at Stanford University, Joel was in the management development rotational program at E&J Gallo, where he gained experience in sales, marketing, and operations management. Joel has participated in the founding of two internet firms and was the lead on the marketing and finance for a new mobile application for product review and a digital media startup. He is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa honor society.
